Laser Check Printing
FormSprint easily converts preprinted checks to laser printed checks on blank check stock.
- Modify spool file to fit any style check including self-sealing
- Print check copy on plain paper and even on another printer
- Reduce detail overflow
- Print signature with check
- Automatically print from multiple accounts
- Print directly from the IBM i
A single check form can produce checks on multiple accounts based on spool file data. The signature can be printed along with the rest of the check and the signature can be suppressed or a second signature added if the check is greater than a specified amount.
FormSprint is Check 21-compliant and contains the MICR font necessary for check printing. Just add MICR toner, which is readily available in cartridges to fit most laser printers, and blank check stock. No special "check" printer necessary.
While many laser check printing solutions require downloading a spool file to a PC, FormSprint keeps all processing on the IBM i, taking advantage of the security and reliability the IBM i is famous for.
Security
FormSprint’s built-in security control permits a properly authorized user to control access to a check form by setting a usage counter, which limits the number of times the form can be accessed, and by setting an expiration date and time, after which access will be denied regardless of the current value of the usage counter. Each time there is an attempt to access a check form, the security control file is checked. If access is allowed, the usage counter is decremented and form processing proceeds. If access is denied, the input spool file will be placed on hold. In all cases, a log entry is made which includes the date and time, the form being checked, the job name and job user profile, the input spool file and the input file user profile, and whether access was granted or denied.
Signatures may reside in the form definition on the IBM i, on a SIMM card installed in the printer or on a removable card device external to the printer.
Combine FormSprint with our optional Power Email to minimize/eliminate check printing and automatically email the transfer request to the American Clearing House (ACH) as well as to email a voucher back to the receiver. (see flow chart)
